I'm setting up a new office with one W2K Domain controller file and print server and one W2K server running exchange 2000 and surf control web filtering software. There are only 8 users on the system.

My spec for the exchange server is:

PowerEdge 700
P4 2.8
512MB RAM
2 x SATA 80GB hard disks in a raid 1 array (hardware)

Will the SATA drives be up to the job of running exchange 2000 for 8 users?

Thanks

Paul

Four 8 users, you'll be fine with the above--but I'd suggest a gig of RAM at a miminmum. You're also lacking a backup device.

Cheers Jkupski

Back up device is already sorted, just never mentioned it above.

Thanks for your advice!

Paul

Yeah definetly go with 1GB minimum, possibly more depending on what Surf Control needs - Exchange is pretty memory-hungry. I hope you have an anti-virus solution in place to ;)

Thanks Nick.
Yeah AV is covered, so is firewall, UPS, etc etc

Cheers
