Neither ADO not DAO provide any method of checking if a tranasction is in progress.
However, YOU are in control of transactions, not Access - so there should not be a scenario where you, as the programmer, don't know if a transaction has been started. It is a bit like asking how to check if you are in a For ... Next loop, or in an If ... End IF block
