Check cell for null 1

Is there a way to check a cell for null without using vb?

ie:

=if(isnull(a1),"Null","Not Null")

something like this... I know syntax is incorrect but you get the idea.

 

[AnotherHiggins]

IsBlank

[tt]_____
[blue]-John[/blue][/tt]
[tab][red]The plural of anecdote is not data[/red]
