Check Archiving with Access?

I was wondering if anyone out there is using Access as an image archive for check processing. We manually input check information into Access, but the process takes anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 hours. I was hoping that we could use a check scanner to create an image of the checks, and automatically load the MICR number into a field with the check image. The ultimate goal would be to have a form that I could use to search through the database for a specific check easily, but never have to actually input information, only scan in the checks.

Is this possible using Access and a check scanner? Is anyone doing it, or can anyone think of a way to make this happen using Access? Thanks
