Hello All

I am in need of a good unix backup software that i can run on mamoth2 tape drives. My budget for this as per my CTO is a big fat 0. yes that is ZERO. I use backupexec 8.5 for my windows & currently i use an inhouse script that was written by one of our former unix gods. however it takes a long time to retrieve a file from backup since i would have to manually fast forward the tape look for the file then extract it. i know of backup express but as i said before my budget is 0. anyone outthere know of any good cheap software that is user-frendly and gwi for backingup unix platforms. I have about 180GB of data on 3 solaris boxes & 2 aix boxes.

thanks

Hi you can use the backup Unix agent with Veritas backup 8.5 it is on the CD just install the agent on you Unix/Linux system and configure it to see your backup server, your backup server can then run a backup of the Unix/Linux system the Unix/Linux system will appear in the remote agents box.

Hello

I used the unix agent but it was very slow a 2GIG backup took over 5 hours. We have over 150GBof data being backed up every week on unix.
