I have recently upgraded my 486. (unfortunately my best system) I put in a 4 gig Western Digital hdd that I scrounged from a friend's fried system (before the upgrade my 486 had a 200mb hdd). I then swaped out 8mb of RAM from my 386 for the 486's 4mb. I installed a sound card (sbv16)
and a cd-rom (teac)(both also from the fried system).
My processor is a 486dlc with a 387 math co-processor.
Anyway, I need software now.
I would like to start some programming again and need some programming tools.
Also, I would like to get some basic website design tools to start learning some of that.
This might not be a problem, if I had a better system, but this in what I have, and I am currently on a very tight budget. Plus, while I do have a way of connecting to the internet, and therefore downloading, I have only one feasable way of transporting programs: 1.44mb floppies.
I can split files into parts to do this, but I prefer not to use more than 5-6 flopies at a time.
If anyone out there knows of any good programs I can get (preferably cheap, or free) with the priorly mentioned guidelines, please tell me.
Thanks in advance.
