Chat !! 2

Hi !

I need a advice ? I've created a app wich works in network mode . Now I'm trying to create something wich usualy is named chat. Exactly, if a user logged in wants to say something to other he a can use my chat module. The problem is : we have a table wich is appended with new records (messages) with a ID (new / old). I check for new msg's using a timer. At a specified interval check the darn table. It works but HAVE U WIZARDS OTHER IDEAS !!! THANK"S !!!

What was wrong with the timer idea. I have a program that uses one for chat and other alerts, it works fine.
