i tried to use chat from yahoo but my redhat9 won't let me open the room. i can't see any error, it's just doing nothing.

any idea?

I'm gonna take a wild guess that it's a jave based chat server. Linux doesn't like java too well on the client side. Most of the time java is turned off in the browsers so you won't freeze or other crazy things. I'm not quite sure why this is so.

RythemAce:

Which browser have you seen this on?

Java runs fine on linux [browsers] the problem is usually with poorly implemented code on the program side

Actually you need to open the ports in your IPTABLES. I don't recall offhand which ports they were but running a packet sniffer on your network should tell you.

you are right rhythmace... it's the java thing.

i'm using mozilla browser.

pclinuxguru - do you have any idea where that might be? anyone?
