I know in the days of old the chassis was locked to the version of the first call. Is that still the case at R11.1? The reason I ask is I have a customer at R8.1.91 with 5400 series sets. I know the 5400's get squirrely after about R10.1. I get to go find out tomorrow if it is a hardware failure. Just wondering if it is worth doing the first call at R11.1 before downgrading the chassis incase they want to update later.

The chassis lock was for ADI IIRC, so once you are on PLDS licensing it's not an issue.

not arrogant, just succinct.

Technically the chasis do still lock into a version and this is still important if you are running basic mode. With PLDS the Essential Edition license has a version tied to it and you are entitled to run that version regardless of what version your chasis is locked into.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

@ critchey I was kind of thinking it still was the case, but I haven't paid any attention on the new ones I have fired up lately. I always like to be forward thinking. For years I have always made that first call on the highest version even if I knew I had to down grade it to match an SCN or something.
