Hi All

I need to put a series of graphs and charts on our website -- they are static not dynamic (simply to show the results of a questionnaire we did recently).

Is there a good program out there for creating graphs for websites? I am looking for a program which creates quite sophisticated looking graphs in keeping with the rest of our website.

I have tried using Excel to create the graphs but to be honest they look pretty naff and is a rigmarole trying to get the graphs to appear on our webpage. You can't even paste the graphs into Fireworks or other image editors and save them as images.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Many thanks

Daniel

I guess it depends if you want to spend any money or not?

As a side note, if you save the excel file as a web page, it will create a gif image of the chart for you.

Try the Search Facility or read FAQ222-2244 on how to get better results.

You can use the "Print Screen" button to get a screen grab of your chart in Excel - and then paste it directly into your image editor.

Surely the most stress-free solution would be to get the company/person who did the graphs/charts intially to do this. That way they will at least look consistent.

Cheers,
Jeff

Thank you both!

We are actually a school and we conducted our own survey about bullying - the results of which need to go on our website.

So we don't have any graphs at present, just lots of figures. And unfortunately there is no company involved to whom I can get to produce the graphs for us.

Also, being a school, you can imagine how tight the SM team are so it's unlikely they will spend any money.

At least I can use Excel the way you suggested (either screen print or using the gif image). I was just a little disappointed with how uninspiring the Excel graphs seem to look. I've seen some great looking graphs on the web but I guess these are produced by companies with lots of money to spend.

Many thanks for your advice!

Dan,

If you are unpleased with the graphs produced by Excel then you could always create your own graphs with some vector graphic software, like Fireworks ... just use Ecel to generate a rough template of the graph paterns and then overlay them with your own design ... i know its a little long winded but it is your best bet if you dont have money to spend.

Thanks Rob! That's true. I'll give that a go and see what it's like.

Many thanks for your suggestion.

Dan

Adobe Illustrator has a built in graph tool.
Draw a box with it, and it will pop up an excel like grid where you can fill in the data. When you're done it creates the graph.

If you don't like the default look, you can customise it any way you want as you would any other Illustrator file.
