Charting with dates as x-axis

I am creating a chart where dates are on the x-axis. The problem is that I don't have data for every date, for example the weekends. The chart automatically fills in the missing dates using zero as the value. I want my chart to not show the missing dates at all. Is there a way to get the chart to only graph those dates listed?

Example:
My data:
7/2
7/3
7/5
7/6
7/9
7/10

Current chart x-axis:
7/2 7/3 7/4 7/5 7/6 7/7 7/8 7/9 7/10

I want:
7/2 7/3 7/5 7/6 7/9 7/10

This works for me:

Right-click the chart (so that black handles show).
Select Chart Options, Axes.
Change the setting for Category (x)axis from Automatic to Category.
