I'm trying to add a pie chart to a crystal report. The data I want to add to the pie chart is the grand total however I don't appear to be able to do this. Has anyone else come across this? If you have how did you get round it.
The grand total is by definition the whole pie. If you mean you want to display the grand total value, you could copy the grand total from the main report and paste it into the chart area along with an explanatory text box.
I didn't explain my self very well. I have a report that has a number of columns. I want to take the sum of the grandtotals (there are several groups) as the area of the pie chart and the divisions will be based up on the relative amounts for the grand total of each column.
e.g
column1 column2 column3
group1 data data data
group1tot total total total
group2 data data data
group2tot total total total
grandtot totoftot totoftot totoftot
So the are of the pie chart would be all of grand tot and the individual slices would be the column totoftots.
Your ability to do this depends on what the columns are. If they are unrelated fields, I don't think you can do this. If you have a manual crosstab, where each column represents a different instance of the same field, as in months based on the date field or service types based on a type field, then this is possible by using the advanced layout and adding the field as the "on change of" field, and the amount to be totaled as the summary field. Then, if it's a date field, you could select the "on change of" date field and click on "order" to recreate the group by month, e.g.
