Hi

I need to create a standard column chart with two series of data with vastly different orders of magnitude and therefore need 2 y axes.

Eg:

apples 3.2 976
bananas 1.5 457
cucumbers 2.3 789

If I use the recommended 'format: selected data series : 2nd axis' to create a 2nd Y axis, excel overlaps the numeric columns rather than keeping the preferred side-by-side format.

Has anyone got any ideas / formatting experience to help?

Thanks

Pete

Hi,

Select the SECOND SERIES in the chart

Chart/Chart Type - and select a DIFFERENT chart type

Chart/Chart Options - Axis Tab and select the secondary axis

Chart/Chart Type - and select the TYPE you want for the second series

Hi Pete,

Add two dummy sets of data between your required 2.
Now move the last 2 sets to the secondard axis.
They should now appear side by side.

Apples 2.3 0 0 976
Bananas 1.5 0 0 457
Cucumbers 2.3 0 0 789

If you use a legend you will need to remove the legend entries for the 2 dummy sets of data.
Select the legend then select the legend entry. Make sure both the legend text and marker are selected before deleting. Otherwise you will delete the data as well.

Cheers
Andy
