When I copy a worksheet with a chart to a new workbook the formatting of the x-axis is lost. In the source workbook the format is a date formatted as Oct-07, but when I create a copy the date becomes 39356 which is the numeric value for Oct. 1, 2007. Is there any way to retain the formatting? I'm using a macro to create the copy.

I'm using Microsoft Office Excel 2003.

Thanks.

Hi,

"I'm using a macro to create the copy."

Extend your macro to format the value axis.

I can't say why its happening.

Probably has the chart property of axis format linked to source set up.

If you go into the number tab on the format properties of the X axis, you should see a tick box which says "Linked to source"

Rgds, Geoff

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Thanks, Geoff. I clicked off the "linked to source" and that fixed it.
