I used to work for a software company on a team that customized baseline software for different clients needs. All of the developers were called into a meeting that dealt with how we, as a company, could better manage version control issues. This meeting lasted for 1 1/2 hours. When filling out my timesheet that week I charged the meeting time to the administrative overhead account. My timesheet was promptly returned to me and I was instructed to charge one of my clients (just pick one) for the time. I responded that ethically I could not do that and my manager used White Out to change the account. I refused to sign the time sheet even though I felt it might have put my job in jeopardy. That was many years ago but the incident still bothers me. Was there a better way to have handled it?
