Hi there,

to provide some users with buttons to activate forwarding of other extensions to mobiles phones etc, we are using CDE Speedcalls, which in turn call 'system speed calls' (as some of the key sequences are longer than 7 characters, the most we can put in a CDE speedcall).

After pressing the button, the user then needs to lift and replace the handset, or press the cancel (X) key to end the call. Is there some symbol/character we could include at the end of the speed call, to cause the system to end the call without the user needing to do so manually?

Thanks for input, Neil.

Let's make the task clear. Some of your users want to forward all the calls to cell phones when away of the desk and need a button to activate and deactivate this feature. Am I correct?

Yes, indeed. Forgot to say, this is on a 3300 running 7.1.4.9_1

We can program a 'Call Forward' button, which forwards their line/extension, and the key lights up when active.

But we want a separate key which will forward the main line to say a mobile/cell phone.

We program a key on their phone as CDE Speedcall of say 222222, and program a system speed call of 222222 to then activate something like 'Call Forwarding - Follow Me - Third Party' to the appropriate number.

After pressing the button, which successfully activates the call forwarding, the user then needs to lift and replace the handset, and it is this which we'd like to try and avoid.

We were hoping there was some character/symbol, say #, that we could include in the speedcall, which would cause the phone to hangup (just to simplify things for the end user)

Normally I would program forwarding for this particular phone from the phone itself or OPS Man and activate it with a button as needed.

you may try inserting the phone number you are forwarding to (the outside number)in the ars digit strings. the system will see an exact match and consider it a valid number. also on some older versions of mitel software the system had to receive answer supervision before call fwd off prem became active.

Although I understand your request, I cannot imagine another scenario where you would want a phone to dial a speedcall and then immediately hang up.

Expecting the user to terminate the call after dialing digits is a reasonable expectation. The fact that a speedcall is utilized is beside the point.

Re: "I cannot imagine another scenario where you would want a phone to dial a speedcall and then immediately hang up"

I see what you are saying, but another application I can imagine for dialling a speedcall, then immediately hanging up, would be whereby you are controlling something (door entry/alarm/lights/electric blinds) via a relay/DTMF decoder, you want to send a DTMF sequence out of an analog trunk to initiate an action, and then hang up.

Can you give me an example of another phone system that does this. I'm a little Mitel Centric but I've worked with nurmerous other products, Nitsuko,Executone,Nortel and as far as I know, none of them have a hang up after dialing character in speedcall.

I don't know of one, Mitel is the primary platform I work with, I just wondered if it could be done.

can you tell me what happens if you press the button and do not pickup and replace the handset?

Dialtone is returned to the set at the completion of the feature activation.

The set will timeout on dialtone in about 10seconds and lockout after 1 minute.
