We encounterd the problems when dumping the data into Orcle Tables using the sqlloader(Oracle Utility). We are unable to know the Character set of given file(whether the file is in ASCII format or EBCIDIC format). We used 'file' command. But we could not get the result.
Please give solution to this problem

edit the file, does it appear to be text or gobbledegook?

if it has funny ^? characters in it, or other control style characters, or excedingly long lines then the file is not a text file.

when editing the file DO NOT SAVE it :)

Thanks for your help. But it is not working. The line is too long to edit.

Thanks
Chandra
