I have had a report from a user that one of the Crystal Reports I have provided them with (as accessed through a Delphi 5 application and previewed in a ‘CRViewer’ component) is displaying/printing (yet to be confirmed as I have been unable to talk directly with user so far) the # character in place of characters with accents (characters as created through use of the ALT GR key combinations – i.e. é). The reports work against a SQL Server 7.0 database. From what I have seen in my hasty testing is that these characters (and accents) are displayed in the preview of the ‘CRViewer’ with no problem.
Would I be correct in thinking that the cause of this issue may be the client machine itself being unable to display the characters (and accents) as required – and therefore replacing these with the # character.
Alternatively would the printer (driver?) be the root of the issue – do characters that are displayed successfully on the client machine occasionally not print as required (and substituted with the # character) ?
Has anyone come across anything along these lines ?
Are there any characters that Crystal Reports cannot display/print ?
Thanks in advance.
Steve
