I've noticed a "character" (a vertical rectangle) at the end of my PRG Files that I've not noticed before. I assume it's an "end of file" marker and that it's due to a setting in "options" that my have been changed?

Regards,
David

Yes, there is such an option, in the tab "IDE" in the lower left section "save options" the "Save with end-of-file-marker" must be checked in your options and should be unchecked.
I have it unchecked as this marker rather annoys me than it helps with anything at all.

Bye, Olaf.

The "Save Option" in the "IDE" Tab was indeed set to "Save with end-of-file-marker" so I unchecked this option. Now, I would have thought that this would have solved the issue. However, if I delete the "character" and save the file and then open it again it's still there! I created a new PRG File and it does contain this "character".

David

Indeed, no option changes you do will become permanent, if you don't also click "Set as default". VFP saves options to registry and a new VFP session then reloads that.

Bye, Olaf.

Also, What are your settings in the top-left corner of the IDE tab in the Options dialogue?

"Specify file/window" should be set to Program Files. And if you don't have a tick against "Override individual settings", you will need to go into the properties for the specific file.

To do that, open the PRG in the editing window as usual; right-click and choose Properties; and untick "Save with end-of-file marker" in that dialogue.

Did you remember to click on Set As Default (in the Options dialogue)?

Yes I did.

That looks to be it, "Override individual settings" was unchecked. Since I've checked it, all now appears to be ok. I wonder how I messed this up!

Thanks for you help guys, most appreciated.

David
