hi,

I bought a laptop in Korea with Korean windows ME installed.
I presume that as most of the "base" files are there, I should be able to download a patch that changes the language to English, but navigating the Microsoft web site is a nightmare, as it detects I'm in Korea and changes to a Korean language site!!

If anybody knows of a direct link for such a file, or anything else I can do all advice appreciated.

I have Windows 98 English edition but not sure how to install it over ME, or even do I want to do that? Will I lose all data on my hard drive?

Thanks in advance,

Eoin

Right. Going back to W98 is no bad thing (from experience !)
but if you want to stick with WMe then try this :-

Click Start > Settings > Control Panel
Click Regional Settings
There are two option boxes.
In the top select the language (ie ENGLISH)
In the 2nd box select Country/Region (ie United Kingdom)

Let me know how you get on
