Hi,

We have an Avaya Ip Office Select R.9.1 virtualized with a Primary Server, VM Pro and Contact Recorder in the same vmware machine.
We need to use the Database actions and VBScript in VM Pro so it can't be done with Linux, so my question is if I can change VM Pro (and I assume Contact Recorder also) from the Linux machine to an external Windows machine and in case it is technically possible what licenses should be purchased in case it will be required.

Many thanks

You only have to move VMPRo but you must setup the recordings to be transfered form the windows machine to the Linux machine.
You do not need any licensing for this but it requires some work.
If you know how to do this then see it as a migration.
If you do not know than hire somebody capable of doing this.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Hi tlpeter,
I asked to Avaya if they had documentation about the process of this migration, extracting VM Pro from the Primary Server and installing it in Windows server, but they have told me that is not possible and it is in IP Office Solution Description, chapter Server Specifications, "The use of any external VMPro server (either Linux or Windows) is not supported". Also they say "Even if you add an IP500v2 to a Server Edition solution as an Expansion, it won't support any VM server apart from what is installed on Primary server."
Are you sure it can be done?
I thought installing VM Pro in a Windows Server and then changing in System / VoiceMail the ip address with the new windows server, and then with VM Pro Preferences select the sending of the recording to the Primary Server with the Contact Recorder it could do the trick, but now I have doubts that it can be done.

It probably can be don, but what Avaya are saying is they won't support that as a solution. So when you find some other Select SE feature assumes that voicemail is on the Linux primary you'll be stuck. Not worth the pain unless you can test it on the lab bench first and are confident about overriding all the spots in the config where Manager will direct VM traffic to the primary server.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Yes, that's what I thought, possible but not supported.
But has anyone it done and working?

I know of people who did it with success because the needed database integration with Server Edition.

But if you need help you will be lost...
