Is it possible to change variable definitions in an imported FrameMaker file? For example, if I import an FM file into a new, empty FM file, can I then go into the new FM file and change the variable definitions? I am pretty sure I have been able to do this in the past, but now I cannot get this feature to work. I visibly see the new definition in the variable window, but it does not seem to change in the imported file itself. Am I missing a step here?

Hi Lucas,
on importing some files, FrameMaker will offer you three options regarding the import type:
> reformat with formats of actual file
> import as standard text
> leave as it is.
The first two options actualize variable definitions from the target file. The third option takes variable definition from source file - and doesn't change anything.
