We've had employees leave and be replaced by others. I know this is a simple question, but how do I go in and change the phone name to the current employee? Also, how do I change the voicemail password back to the default so they can go in and set up their voicemail? Thanks in advance!

I should add that I'd be programming this through the telset, and I'm pretty familiar with the options. I can feature **, etc., but don't know where to program the new name once I'm in there.

Name is under the DN, also Change name in CP and reset PWD.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Okay, "pretty familiar with the options" should have read "kind of familiar". Thanks for the reply, but am I choosing the "telephones & sets", "passwords", "maintenance", "system programming" etc. option to change the DN? I can't find the right spot to change the DN. Sorry for the trouble...

I should have asked what system. Is this a BCM or a Norstar?

Terminals and Sets:
DN you want to change

I think-show, next, next. It's definitely under Terminals.

In Call Pilot it's: Main Admin
Mbox
Change
Reset-Yes

Fantastic, thanks! I wasn't hitting the "show" button after getting to the correct spot on "Terminals & Sets" and then entering in the extension number. Now I just need to figure out where to go to clear and reset the VM to default password, and I'm good to go. Big thumbs up :)

It's in the 2nd part of my post.

Ftr983
102xxxx (x being your password)
Mbox
Change
Left softkey has Reset
Yes
Default is 4 zeros

Sorry, didn't see that...

What if we don't know the old user's password? Our default is the four 0's, but is there a master password I can use to bypass the original user's password?

As you can tell, I'm taking over for someone else who didn't leave me any info (sorry!).

no master pswd and since your new at this I would get into a routine on just deleting the mbox and rebuilding it when somebody leaves. I say that because if you just chg the name and reset the pswd then you still have the old recorded name of the prior person and even though it's simply to re-record a new name most people can't figure it out or just don't and then when someone uses your company directory they'll have issues finding the right person.

Plus there may be a legal problem with old messages left on the old Vmail that may have personal info on them.
