Hello...

Through this post, I wish to check : Is there any impact on changing the USERID field value in the DTREE directly in the database?

NB: USERID field in the DTREE table reflects the "Owned By" in the general properties of a document

Is there any LAPI for changing the USERID field? (I spent sometime to read the LAPI 8.1 documentation but I seemed to find no answer)

I hope someone who has the idea, be willing to share with me on this...=)

Many thanks in advance,

as a rule the livelink database updates key tables that it needs to function by executing oscript code.It is not like you update a field in dtree all its associated schema gets changed automatically. That is the reason why OT vehemently opposes direct database updates.you will somehow end up ruining the refrential integrity .The lapi call updateobjectinfo should give you what you are looking for.The only time I have updated tables are simple tables that I put like attribute lookups and stuff.Pls think thru what the shortcuts are getting you into :)

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?
