Office 2000 has a auto update function, where if it detects that you don't have a certain function, it asks you if you wish to install it now and then shoots off looking for a CD.

The problem is that our Office 2000 is network based so I need to change this setting. I assume it is probably a registry entry but I'm not quite sure where.

Any Ideas? [sig][/sig]

I'm having a similar issue with Office 2K. I get the same the same auto-update hassle, but when I point it to the install point (folder on the system), it says that it's not valid, even though it's where it got installed from. I can even throw in the disk, and it gives me a problem. The only thing I can think of is that we do a local install and grab any disk we can get our hands on at the time, so there may be a difference between the original install disk and the one we are trying to use.

As for an answer to your problem, you should be able to browse out to the folder on the network that you installed it from. That's how I can point it to the local install folder. Hope it helps.

Try the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Installer\Products\xxxxxxxxxx\SourceList\Net

where xxxxxxxxxx indicates the long product ID.

This registry entry lists the location that the package was installed from as well as any other installer locations you may have indicated in the Custom Installation Wizard.

If you change the entry(ies) in the above key to point to a new location, then you should probably change the location in the uninstall key as well:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{ProductID}
