Changing the size of my document

I am trying to change the size of the work area. I'm sure this is a completely stupid question and I am not even using the right Adobe terminology but this software is new to me. I am trying to upload a graphic I created onto a website for having it printed, but I want to get rid of the white space that is approximately the bottom 1/2 of the page.
