hallo,
maybe it's stupid question but I can't change the size of a textarea without changing the size of the text itself. If I select the textarea with the black arrow and drag and drop one of the edges the text will behave as if it an image. Does someone know? thanks

...with the text tool, drag an area for text to sit into first...

...there are two ways to type in illustrator, the way you have done by just clicking and typing and the text area method i mentioned above...

It sound like the text has been outlined. To check select a letter and see if a bunch of blue dots show up.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

...unless you're on layer 2, in which case the selection will be red.

If you're using a text area, and you want to re-size the box without scaling the text, grab the Group Select tool (White arrow with + next to it), and click EXACTLY on the edge of the text container, without touching the text itself. Now, the container should be selected but the text should look untouched. Scale and watch the text re-flow.
