Our MICS (5.0) at corporate currently has DN's that fall in the 2xxx scheme.

We are going to be getting a DID range within the next several weeks. Unfortunately, the only range that was available in our town is 1xxx.

We want to change our extensions to match the last 4-digits of the DID's.

The way I see it, we have 2 options:

1) Either perform **STARTUP programming & have the system automatically setup the extensions accordingly (including the B channels)

2) Change every DN manually. I do not have a problem with this option, as we have done a lot of customization of the phone system, and would hate to have us (and our vendor) miss something.

If all "A" channel DN's get changed to 1xxx, will the MICS be "smart" enough to automatically renumber all of the "B" channels, or do we also have to do that?

I just want to free-up the "2" prefix for future expansion.

If you change them manually, you will not disturb other settings. If done on startup, everything will have to be reprogrammed. Do not forget to check PARK prefix. It is normally 1. Other than that, unles you have changed access codes, should not be a big problem

Thanks for the quick response.

I have already changed the park prefix to a different digit.

I guess my question pertained to the changing of the "B"-channel extensions.

Most of our extensions fall in the 22xx range, but we also have several that are 2zxx. Most of the "B"-channel extensions are 26xx.

Once I renumber all "real" extension numbers, will my "fake" ones (ie. the 26xx) automatically renumber themselves to 1xxx, or do I need to do those as well? I want to keep the system as clean as possible.

You could just use LD 49 for the DID route and have an IDC table change all the 1xxx to the 2xxx that you have now.

SAMMEE2 you're on the wrong forum. Norstars don't have LD commands and IDCs only SL1s and Meridian1s do!

Sorry, I wasn't paying attention to which forum I was in, My bad.

I dont think your voicemail is smart enough to renumber it's mailboxes so best you reninstall everything, both vmail and system before you get D.I.D.'s.

I am less concerned with the voicemail as I am with the system itself. We already had plans to wipe out & recreate all of the accounts on the voicemail side.

Thanks

Changing the B1 extension number will not change the B2 number.
