I know how to press ctrl-A and acahnge the font to Arial.
But when I starting typing a new line or add something new the font is Courier-New. How do I change the font in just this document so its Arial for new stuff too. DougP, MCP

but that does not change an existing document
cause all new docs are "Times New Roman" not "Courier New" DougP, MCP

Eww, Doug. Sorry, I missed that. When you said "new stuff too", I figured you meant new documents, not just "this one" or "existing ones".

Short of a macro in your normal.dot file, the only thing I can say is to change the font AFTER you're done. Let me know if you want to do the macro thing tho. techsupportgirl@home.com

When you do the ctrl A it is only catching the existing text. There is still a hard return (probably at the end of the document) that is Times New Roman. Press the show hide key (it's the button on the stnadard toolbar that looks like a paragragh symbol),to show the hard returns. No doubt, the last one is Times New Roman. Most times, you can see a difference. Put your cursor on the hard return and press delete and/or backspace. Then when all the hard returns are Arial, your new text will also be Arial. Some people son't like to use the show/hide feature but for this application, it's invaluable. It's also helpful when lining up columns.

Oh, and Doug? Go to Tools-Autocorrect, Autoformat as you type tab. Take all the checkmarks out of your top and bottom sections. This will make Word stop automatically formatting your text for you--which could be occuring. techsupportgirl@home.com
