Hello tech guys , i am having an Avaya IP office manager 500V2 Standard Edition .I want to replace my existing Auto attendant file , As a shortcut i thought i will replace auto attendant by recording through shortcut of dialing number . but my manager gave me one mp3 file and want me to put that file instead of recording by dialing number . is that possible & what are the steps i need to follow to process this thing . Kindly please help as i am new into Avaya IP office manager.

Start by telling us what type of voicemail. It could be embedded voicemail or Voicemail Pro (which could be Windows or Linux based).

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

i just have recording in .m4a format , so i dont know which format will work . sorry for not specifying the voicemail or pro as i am newbie to avaya .

The process is different depending on if you have Voicemail Pro or embedded voicemail, so we can't really advise you until you know which one you have.

Run the system status program and connect to the system. It will tell you, eg: this is my system.

Regardless of which voicemail type you have you need to get the file in the right format first. You cannot use mp3/m4a files, so you will need to convert it to a WAV file - uncompressed PCM, 8Khz, 16-bit, mono.

I use Adobe Audition to do it, but Audacity is an open source program that also works just as well.

If you have embedded voicemail, check out this FAQ:

Hello shaun , its stating embedded voicemail and as per the attached i followed the thread but confused with one step as it informs to put the file in System SD | DYNAMIC | LVMAIL for an IP500 V2 an IP500.
But i can see many clp file in this folder , so i dnt know which i should delete or replace with new . and actually i have to changed for main greeting like if someone callme from outside it should hit this clip .

The process didn't tell you to replace or delete anything. Just upload you converted file and then wait a 5 minutes after which the system should start using it.

Note that if you then go and record a replacement yourself using the phone, your uploaded file will get deleted by the system.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Hi thanks For the update , just a quick question guys whenever we are changing the audio file which is in .m4a format to wav file from audicity with uncompressed PCM, 8Khz, 16-bit, mono . the result file i couldn't hear anything so is it normal or even if we change the file to this format ( uncompressed PCM, 8Khz, 16-bit, mono) we should able to hear the same record .

@sizbut can you just tell me how the scenario will work if we are just going to upload the file . like how it willl trigger in the system for main greeting to use this clip file.
