Hey Guys,

I have to change the computer that acts as our Alohaboh server for a newer one.
I've never done this. Anything I need to know?
Can I just clone the HD?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much,

Juan

Did you really think it was going to be that easy. Depending on your version of Aloha will decide what OS you can use.
If you are 6.5 and lower you need 32bit OS
6.7 and higher you can use 64 bit
There are a number of prerequisites y6ou will need to install
You will need to know the windows user ID and passwords the FOH use to attach to BOH
Ip address

The way I do it.
Build new system, get all prereuisites installed, call it Alohaboh1. get it on same network as BOH. start Copy over all aloha folders from old to new before I go to sleep. It takes a while to copy a few years worth of data. In the morning rename the BIN, BMP, Profiles and RPTset folders. Copy data and newdata to other folder. Then install Aloha. get it all updated. then put your BMP, Profiles and RPTSET folders back. Copy your Production EDC folder after you have settled batch.
Move key, turn off old pc
Rename new server back to alohaboh
change environmental variables that were set as alohaboh1 to alohaboh
reboot.
If FOH starts updating when server comes up everything went according to plan

Issues can be
Firewall
permissions
lananumbers
windows accounts
RAL

For your first server, you should have someone guide you

No, I did not expect it to be that easy that's why I thought I'd ask.
Thank you for always helping, Ross.
I will give it a try and let you know when nothing is working and I need your help :)
