changing th colors

is there anyway to change the bgcolor of a table header from the default

i have tried <th bgcolor=#EEEEEE> but it doesnt work

I use CSS and it seems to work fine. (mind you if you are trying to make things work in NS4 there might be problems)

I just tried <th bgcolor=&quot;#EEEEEE&quot;>R1 C1</th> and it worked fine! I use IE6.
What browser are you using?
