Hi All!

I have a challenge and do need some help. My company has a few mobile notebook users who from time to time needs to change the W2K tcp/ip setting. By default we enable dhcp setting on the notebooks and we have networking settings on the notebook locked so that only administrators can change them.

So occasionally when these poor blokes goes to remote sites and need to change their tcp/ip setting they get really frustrated. Does anyone have any registry hacks or ideas how the ip settings can be accomplished without granting them admin rights, cos we've tried that and they have proven to be great at scewing up the settings on the notebooks and installing all types of games and software when admin rights were granted.

Thanks!!!

You could try using a group/security policy that would specifically allow them to just alter the TCP/IP settings. They would not have admin rights and you could still keep everything else locked down.

On Win2K, I think it is under Administrative Tools and is called poledit.

Hope that helps.
