Changing tape device

Hi
I am fairly new to ARCserve so I need help. We use an IBM Netfinity 5000 as our Novell server, with an internal DAT tape drive and Arc Serve 6.6 . The DAT tape is filling up and back up's are therefore failing. To solve this problem we bought an external HP DLT1 tape drive. Could anyone advise me on how to replace this internal tape with the HP tape drive. I have tried but Arcserve is not 'seeing' the HP tape drive.I need to know what steps to take next.
