changing switch password - NEWBIE

Hi All,

We have a Nortel Meridian Option 11C Switch and need to change the password on the switch. Such a simple thing has been had to find. Any assitance would be greatly appeciated!

In order to change the switch password you need the admin2 password.
Do you have that?

We don't even loginto the switch as admin...I have to check with the other 2 who have worked with the switch before, but what if we don't have it?

Are we stuck? I don't think the password has been changed in over 10 years and this is a big concern. The only problem is I have been all over the Nortel site and the manuals and can not find it.

admin2 is the 2nd level password. It my not be typed as admin 2 when you login, it could be any combo of numbers.

Talk with the guys that worked in it prior to you. If no luck there, contact your pbx vendor, open a ticket to have the password cracked from Nortel. I do not think Nortel will allow you personally to call, you would need your vendor to do this for you.

We are in Lake County, IL

we don't have the admin2 password, so hopefully the suggestion that was made to contact our equipment provider contact Nortel to have the password cracked. Wish me luck!!

not a problem, just need $, it's there in plain site, with the pdt password.. you'll need your software cert and co letter head plus an invoice ( around 1600)..
