Changing SharePoint Intranet URL

I currently have a Sharepoint intranet site with the following URL:

http://dudley:2924/sites/intranet/Pages/Default.aspx

I will like to change it to the following:

http://sharepoint.scn.ca

or even

http://sharepoint.scn.ca/sites/intranet/Pages/Default.aspx

scn.ca is our domain. What do I need to change in Alternate Access Mappings? Do I need to make any changes to DNS Management?

Yes, a DNS CNAME entry is needed. There are also some other steps. I recently wrote an article about this here:
