Changing Raw volumes from block files to character files?

I have an oracle admin who requested that I make some raw volumes for him. But he wants the raw volumes to be changed from block files to character files. I'm not sure which set of commands would do that. Any ideas?

A logical volume will have two names in /dev

/dev/lvname (block device)
/dev/rlvname (raw or character device)

I think that's what the Oracle admin's after.
