Changing "ownership" of recurring appts 1

Here's the situation:

My Secretary is leaving employment here. She has created a number of recurring appts from her acct for meetings that I need to have ownership of after she is gone. I would really like to accomplish this without re-sending these appts from my own account (people complain.....) Has anyone got any thoughts on how I might be able to change ownership of the existing appts to my GW account so I don't have to retain her account for the next 1-2 years?

I can't find anything that looks promising, so thought I'd ask the other gurus here.

Oh.... GW 5.5 on the server, GW 6.0 client.

I was asked to do this one time for a user of mine. What I came up with was this.

a. Create a shared folder between the two accounts.

b. From the account containing the appointments open the
Calendar and drag and drop the appointments to the shared
folder.

c. Log into the other account and drag and drop the
appointments to that accounts Calendar.

The account that originally moved the appointments to the shared folder could be deleted if you choose to. The appointments would stay with the other account. I can not remember where I came up with this from. I either had a vision while sleeping or quite possibly read it in a forum somewhere. Just don't want to take credit for something that I am not sure I thought of. Also, this was performed under a GW 6.5.x system. I'm not sure about v5.x, it has been to long since I was under that system. Hope this addresses your problem. Have a good one!

We'll give it a try and do some testing.. Thanks much. A star for the idea. Will let you know if it works out for us.

Sounds good Dennis. Just remember to move the appointments placed in the shared folder to your account before deleting the user. That is if the shared folder was created from your Secretary's GW account. When a user is deleted, shared folders owned by that user are also deleted by default.

This seems to work for everything except calendar entries. No matter what I do, GW won't let me copy the calendar entries from the shared folder to my calendar or even another folder. Checked priveleges on the shared folder and I have full priveleges. Oh well. It was worth a shot. Think we'll have to recreate the appt entries in my account the old fashioned way and just have to hear the grumbling from recipients. I suppose if that's the worst thing that happens to them, then they're not having too bad a day!

Thanks for the help.

That's strange. With another account having me as a member to a shared folder (with Add/Edit/Delete rights) I can move Appointments, Calendar Entries, Notes, and Tasks into my own calendar from the shared folder.

I have a question Dennis, you stated in your initial post that you were running a GW v6.x Client against a GW v5.x system. I was always under the thought that this type of marriage was not recommended, or for that matter possible. Just struck me as odd. Have a good one!

FarOut - my mistake. We ARE at GW 6.0.4 on the server. I'm just out of touch :)
