Changing Primary Servers

Someone declared a temporary server in our domain as the primary server. I have since built the permanent server for Symantec in the same domain. I want to make it the primary server and demote the temp server. I would then like to then move all clients from the temp primary server to the permanent primary server. Can anyone point me in the right direction as how to do this.

In the SSC, right click the server you want to be primary and select Make Server a Primary. It will automatically demote the current primary.

To move the clients I have always copied the grc.dat file from the desired parent to the client. There's probably an easier way.

Thanks for the reply! The servers are not in the same group. Should I delete the new server and add it to the temporary group, make it the primary and rename the group to my liking?

Just select the server and drag it to the group you want it in.

I was able to create a goup and place both primary servers in it and have one demoted.
