I made the mistake of capturing PAL footage in NTSC format which is 23FPS and PAL is 25FPS. I already edited it and ready for exporting but I can't because the picture has two black bars on the side and will not look good on PAL TV's. The only way around it - as far as I know - is to copy the whole timeline, create a new preset, paste it and resynch the audio and video and text then export it. However the whole process takes 3 hours and I really don't want to do it again. Also, when I am editing it in PAL using the footage that I put in NTSC by mistake I get no audio playback at all. I don't know what to do anymore, very wierd but I need help!!

Thanks

You could try selecting the footage in the project window and adjusting properties under File/Interpret Footage.

I don't think that works. Take a look at this, this is the footage imported in NTSC format

Here is the fottage copied to PAL format.

How can I change it to PAL inside NTSC instead of copying it over which is 2 hours in total and readjusting everything.

If Interpret Footage works, then just use the footage on the timeline. No need to copy.

If it doesn't workk, then I guess you'll need to recapture with the correct settings.

Interpret Footage does not work.

So is there no way around the recapture or copy & paste the timeline?

The issue here is complicated by the source footage being PAL, so this is not, as far as I am aware, a straightforward standards conversion.

The cleanest way forward is to recapture. There may be transcoding utilities that could do something for you, but I hesitate to suggest any given your hybrid footage which could easily not generate a satisfactory result. Anyway, transcoding takes lots of time and disk space, so it will probably be quicker to recapture anyway.
