I've just installed RH 7.2 on a couple boxes I have. I let the install program just handle all my partitioning for me as I didn't have any big plans for the boxes I didn't think it would matter.

Turns out it matters.

My /var is way too small and my /usr is big enough for every file stored on it to get an 200 acres with a view of the CPU.

Needless to say I don't want my /usr partition living in the lap of luxury why my poor /var partition languishes.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Without a reinstall, is there anyway to increase /var at the expense of /usr.

It wouldn't be hard for me to reinstall, I'm just curious if it can be done.

Hi,

You could try using gnu parted ( . However, the resizing of ext2 partitions requires that the start position remains the same which is a bit of a drawback.

Partition magic seems to be able to do a bit more comprehensively but thats a commercial product ...
