If you want to change the opacity on just a certain part of an image, what is the easiest way? I tried selecting a specific area but the opacity changed on the entire image.

Thanks

Hi,

Use a marquee or magic wand or color range to select the area that you wish to change. Then copy the selection, then press delete, then paste. You will make the selection a new layer and the original layer will have the selection cut-out. Then simply change the opacity of the second layer. Before copying you may want to feather the selection.

If possible you may be able to use a layer mask too.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

Sorry I'm going to modify that a bit.

Make your selection, then if you want you can feather the selection, then copy the selection, then goto SELECT|MODIFY|CONTRACT contract it 2 pixels, then press DELETE then paste, then change the opacity of the new layer. Then merge the layers together and use the smudge tool to touch up the edges. Keep a backup copy of your image before doing this though.

Hope this helps!
