Does anyone know if you can change the NT Disk signature via the use of a utility. The reason being I have numerous servers and all Signatures are the same because the Servers were created with Imaging software.
I need the Signatures to be different for something that I am doing.
Thanks

It's a risky venture - but there is a Resource Kit utility called FTedit.exe.
Check MS' documentation on the use of it first. The settings are also stored in the registry in HKLM\SYSTEM\DISKS, and depending on the setup, HKLM\SYSTEM\CLUSTER\...

Here's the link.

good luck..

I tried to use the FTEdit program at first although this does show the Signature it does not allow the changing of its values. any other ideas ??
thanks

The FTedit does work properly, but you need to edit & delete registry keys in order to use the write functions. You basically have to delete the signatures, then boot, enter registry, and manually make the desired changes. If you follow the steps in the link above - it will work.

It's not something I'd ever do, though. It's wayy too dangerous. I'd strongly suggest not Imaging a server with software, but use a mirror with a known good installation.
