1) Forgive me if this is a novice's question. I have worked extensively with Exchange, but only a little with Groupwise and Domino. I am running a series of tests which require that I be able to open many mailboxes on one machine. Although it would be a bit of a nuisance, I dont care if I need to actually close Notes and open it again with a new profile (OutLook/Exchange).
The key, I believe, is being able to extract the user ID for each mailbox I want to change to, from the Domino server.
I simply want to stay at one desktop, without VMware or multiple installs of Notes, and view many mailboxes to ensure the our software is functioning (I actually need to be able to read emails in the mailbox as well).
I had this working before, but I actually went through the trouble of doing multiple installs for different users, and then coping their user.id to floppy. IN FACT THAT MAY SOLVE MY PROBLEM.
2) How can I send a mailbox's user.id file to the floppy so I can copy it locally to the Notes PC? (from the domino server)

Are you the admin of the mail server ?
If so, use your admin access to include an entry in all ACLs for you, with Manager access.
That would allow you to consult all mailboxes without the switch-ID hassle.

Yes, I have admin access. Currently, I use that user to open Notes. If you could explain to me how to change that user to another, I would be in debt to you.
I would actually like the ability to have that one user (administrator), or another of my choice, to be able to log into ANY users mail box. Our s/w delivers messages to mail servers via an IMAP connector, and with other email systems, I allowed 1 user the full control over everyones mailboxes. I cant figure out if Lotus can do this or not. Maybe I need a new thread.

>>>pmonett<<< "If so, use your admin access to include an entry in all ACLs for you, with Manager access." How can I do this? Would I have multiple mailboxes open, or would it still be switching.

Thanks again .... Troy Matthews

...maybe I can give you an example of the type of login I will need. Using telnet I connect to mail 143. Then I login using this syntex:
? login stress/administrator/user0001 1111
... where stress is my domain, administrator is the credentials I use to login in to user0001 mailbox. The 1111 at the end represents admins p/w, not user0001's!

If it aint broke..... break it and ask for overtime :)

You say you have admin access to all mail dbs. In that case, you should have an admin group in the server NAB, or be able to create one (and put your admin ID in it).
Once you have that, use an ACL manager, or manually update all mail dbs with the name of the group as Manager.
Then you will not need to switch ID when accessing someone's mail.
Of course, for encrypted mail, you will still need to change ID, but I suppose that your access is not to read everyone's mail.
You can also include that group name in the ACL of the default template, so as to have the group automatically added when you create a new mailbox.

Pascal.

Pascal,
Thanks for the info, I will try it soon. I am not too worried about reading someones encrypted mail, but I do want to be able to manipulate it. ie move, delete.
