Hi - One of our phones is no longer playing any sound. The phone does not ring when calls come in, when troubleshooting - testing the telephone display, it doesn't play any sound under Testing the telephone speaker, or Testing hte power supply to a telephone.

I think the phone (ext. 233) needs to be replaced. So I've decided to take an unused phone to replace that one.

Question: the unused phone (Ext. 236) has an existing name "Conf" and existing extension "ext. 236" that was programmed. The way our phones are programmed with its own name and extension any where we plug the phone in. Now with the above situation, I am trying to change the name and extension of broken phone (ext.233) which is still in use now just doesn't ring, with the unused phone (ext.236).

Problem: I've followed 'Changing the name of a telephone' in the user guide, even with the Update button pressed, but every time when it comes to ending the session, it resets back to the way it was before. Any advise?

Curlycord is right you should have turned set relocation off before plugging in your spare phone.

However since you didn't: A trick when entering a name for a DN is when you are finished entering the characters, press the "next" button to lock in the change. Don't just press RLS. If you don't press next the name entry won't be saved.

Another "undocumented feature"

Where is the Set Relocation On/Off button on the phone? I was afraid to tamper with the existing programming that our phone vendor set up.

What is the function of Set Relocation? Does it allow the phone to be relocated or reprogram with name change when it's off?

Will turning the Set Relocation off interrupt our existing phone programs?

Thanks.

Set relocation allows you to move your phone to another location and all programming goes with it so you don't have to move the cross connect. It means you don't have to call a vender when you move offices. Bad thing is, as you have discovered, that when you have a bad phone and use another one, your no longer you. Turn it on off by going into programming~>sys prgrming~>fetr settings~>set relocation. Note: put the phones back where they were originaly before you turn it off.
