For the AutoAttendant menus selector code 2 when you press *2 has a pre-programmed announcement about entering the letters of the name of the person that you are trying to reach. I am trying to change that message as it does not fit our names and people are getting confused. Is there anyway with the Merlin Magix that I can change that? TIIIA for any help.

Nope. It's a system greeting asking to enter the first characters of the name, if you have the directory by last name, tell the callers that "to dial by last name press * 2", and similarly, if you have it listed by first name.

*2, within the Auto Attendent Menu is there by default, and can't be changed.

It takes a little planning to use it affectively.

First off, the customer must decide if they want to have callers search by first name or last name.

Once that decision is made, then the DIRECTORY listing for each mailbox must follow that standard.

Then, in the MAIN AUTO ATTENDANT PROMPT, I have them record a sentence like:

"If you know your parties FIRST - or- LAST Name, press *2 to search our company directory"[/color blue].

That should eliminate the confusion.

Remember, if you have John SMITH and JOHN Jones, the system is smart enough to offer the caller a choice between the two. Therefore, having two or more folks with the same name is not an issue.

I recommend First names, by the way.
