Is there a way to restore data from a tape after the label has been changed? That is the only change that was made to the tape. Can I still get to the data or am I SOL?

Hi.

1.First thing I would try to scann the volume using "scanner -i /dev/rmt0"

2.There are companies that specialize in data recovery:

Ontrack US (datarecovery) US -800-872-2599 /1-612 937-5161

Europe - 44-1372 741999
"Long live king Moshiach !"

This happened to us a couple of years ago - a tape was inadvertently labelled. No scanner command would help, we called in our resellers -also no help. Tried a few differerent data recovery firms around the country, but had to send it to ontrack in the U.S. and they got 85% back (about 30GB) for about $15000 AUD in a couple of weeks.
