Changing Machine Names

Is there a GOOD way to replace a machine and use the SAME machine name in NT 4 domains?

When I have tried to use a name that has already been used in NT 4, it always comes back to bite me due to SID generation and age old references in WINS, etc.

What if you disjoin the domain, replace the machine, and rejoin with it, using the same name. Will that work OK?

Remove it from Server Manager and Delete the record from WINS (delete, not tombstone) and you should be fine. WINS will need to be at SP4 or higher on NT to have the 'delete' option available. I haven't had any problems with replacing servers but using the same name when I've followed these two guidelines.
