Changing IP Addresses

Our company has 3 locations and each location has OTM. We would like to network the OTM's so that changes can be made on any switch from any one of our 3 locations. Our network guru has suggested that if possible we change the IP addressing for the PBX's and the Call Pilots in each of the locations. Has anyone out there done this before and if so would it require us to re-boot the systems and is there an easier way to do this ?

yes on the reboot, the commands needed are in load 117 on the switch. 117 responds to the ? for help feilds. i would look at a new vlan for this before i jumped to fast. if the switch receives a lot of braodcast traffic on those ports they tend to do "complimentery" restarts.

If you change IP addresses in the PBXs, you will NOT have to reboot the systems. If you change IP addresses in the CallPilots, you will have to reboot the CallPilots. If you want to make changes in the PBXs from any of the OTMs you must set up three different sites in each of th OTMs. Each switch has to have a different ELAN IP address. ALL BROADCAST messages must be removed from the PBX ELANs. If you have to change the ELAN address of the PBXs, then you will have to probably change the IP addresses of the CallPilots. I would sugest you make the PBX ELANs a VLAN throughout you data network. Rule of thumb on IP addresses - if you change a computer IP address then a reboot is usually required if not on XP or 2000. With Callpilot (NT4) a reboot is required.
On the PBXs, you can change the HOST address in LD 117 and disable the ELNK in LD 137. Change ACTIVE ELNK in LD 117 to the new HOST you built and then reenable the ELNK in LD 137 and that will change the IP address for the PBXs.
Make sure you have enough licenses in each OTM to take care of all three switches.

And make sure that you update the OTM database on a daily basis.

When you do a change in 1 OTM the databases of the other 2 will not automatically update. Unless you schedule a full retrieve and reconcile (For deleted sets).

The best this to do is upgrade your OTM to 1 server with 2 clients, so you use 1 database. Even better would be to upgrade to 1 server and 3 clients, so you could leave the server seperate from all the clients.

I know this isn't your answer but
What would be the advantage to having 3 OTM's. 1 OTM server could take care of all 3 locations with the correct licensing. Just a thought
 
If you only have 1 OTM you can only access the OTM at 1 location. If you have an OTM at each location your can access it at all the sites.

We recomment 1 dedicated OTM server for all sites so the server will allways run, and it's much easier to reinstall a client than the server.

And a client licence doesn't cost that much, it's a fraction of the server/standalone costs
