Hi to all,
Does anybody have any knowledge on any implications to SAP or the underlying database that may arise from changing the IP address of the server?
I'm using SAP 4.0B, Oracle 8.1.7 on AIX 4.3.3
Thanks in advance

Generally SAP systems are installed with fixed IP addresses (though DHCP can be used if addresses are reserved by MAC numbers but I wouldn't recommend this approach).

Since it sounds like you are running a central system the database should only be getting accessed from the central instance on the same server so changing the IP address wont effect it

SAPLOGON, RFC's and SAPROUTER are 3 areas which can be directly configured using the systems' IP address.

Also your hardware will probably be using a virtual IP address shared between redundant NICs. (or some similar form of redundancy for the IP connection) You will need to look into what the requirements are for your hardware
